About Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM):
The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) has the responsibility of distributing electricity to an area of 207 lakh people with an area of 41,092 square kilometers in eight districts of Karnataka. The Bangalore Metropolitan Area, Bangalore Rural Area Zone, and Chitradurga Zone – have three operating zones. In 1999, Karnataka entered into a major improvement in the power sector. The first step, the Karnataka Electricity Board (KEB) discharged, became the Karnataka Electricity Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL). The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) was formed in November 1999. In the next phase of this reform process; the transmission and distribution business managed by KPTCL was split in June 2002. Four new distribution companies were formed to distribute electricity to Karnataka. Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd (BVC) has been responsible for power distribution from KPTCL in 8 districts and has begun operations on June 1, 2002.
The Mysore state was proud and proud to establish the first large hydroelectric project in Shivanasamudra for commercial operation in 1902. This workforce was still in the early decades worldwide, including the advanced countries. The Long Length Transmission Line was constructed in the world at high voltage from Shivanasamudra to KGF to power the Kolar gold mining power. The power generation capacity of the Shivanasamudra Center was gradually increased to 42 MW. In 1940, the Shimsha Hydro Electric Power Center of 17.2 megawatts capacity was set up to meet the increased power demand. As electricity demand is increasing due to the industrial and ruralization of rural areas, production capacity also has to be increased.
